Update on Auburn Burglary Arrests

On Friday, July 19, 2013 the Auburn Police Division arrested
two more people in connection with a string of residential burglaries that have
occurred over the past few months. Linda
Townsend, age 28, of Montgomery, Alabama, is charged with two counts of
Burglary 3rd Degree, two counts of Theft of Property 1st
Degree, two counts of Theft of Property 2nd Degree, and two counts
of Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle. Damion D. Payne, age 39, of Montgomery, is
charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 3rd
Degree. The pair was taken into custody
in Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday by the U.S. Marshal’s Service. They are currently being held at the Lee
County Detention Center. Linda
Townsend’s bond is set at $28,000 and Payne’s at $4,000.
Auburn detectives have worked closely with the
Montgomery Police Department over the past several weeks in an effort to
identify the suspects involved in the break ins. Several other suspects
connected to the burglaries have been identified and Auburn and Montgomery
police are working to locate them.
Detectives believe the group is responsible for other residential
burglaries that have been occurring in Auburn over the past few months
including areas such as Moore’s Mill and Grove Hill. Some of the stolen property has been recovered.
The investigation is on-going and additional
arrests and charges are expected.
