Auburn University Student Death

March 29, 2013

Thursday evening about 7:14 PM Auburn Police and EMS received a 911 call to an unresponsive female in her Toomer Street apartment.  Upon arrival by Auburn Police, Auburn Fire, and EAMC EMS they found 20 year old Cassandra Anne Gacek, an AU student from Mobile, with no signs of life. Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning pronounced Gacek dead at the scene at 8:15 PM.  Gacek was found by a friend who called 911.

It is reported that Gacek had a past medical history of seizures. No foul play or alcohol or other substances are suspected to be a factor in her death. Her body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences medical examiners office in Montgomery for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.

The Auburn Police, Lee County Coroner, and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences are continuing the investigation.
