Auburn University Student Death
March 29, 2013
evening about 7:14 PM Auburn Police and EMS received a 911 call to an
unresponsive female in her Toomer Street apartment. Upon arrival by
Auburn Police, Auburn Fire, and EAMC EMS they found 20 year old Cassandra Anne
Gacek, an AU student from Mobile, with no signs of life. Chief Deputy Coroner
Gene Manning pronounced Gacek dead at the scene at 8:15 PM. Gacek was
found by a friend who called 911.
It is reported that Gacek had a past medical
history of seizures. No foul play or alcohol or other substances are suspected
to be a factor in her death. Her body was taken to the Alabama Department of
Forensic Sciences medical examiners office in Montgomery for a postmortem
examination to determine the cause of death.
Auburn Police, Lee County Coroner, and Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences
are continuing the investigation.
