Traffic Fatality in Cee County

November 5, 2012

A single vehicle accident early Sunday morning about 2:00 AM has claimed the life of a Montgomery woman. Opelika Police and Fire and East Alabama Medical Center EMS responded to the scene of the accident near the 63 mile marker of I-85 and upon arrival found the driver of a minivan with no signs of life in the median. Lee County Deputy Coroner Charlotte Patterson pronounced the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 37 year old Jennifer Jarrell, of Montgomery, dead at the scene at 3:00 AM from multiple blunt force injuries. It appears that Jarrell was traveling North on I-85 when she may have fallen asleep and veered into the guard rails in the median and flipped, ejecting her from the vehicle. It appears that she was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident. No other vehicles are believed to be involved in the early morning accident. The accident remains under investigation by the Opelika Police and the Lee County Coroner’s office.
