Weekend Traffic Accidents

     The Auburn Police Division responded to two significant motor vehicle accidents over the weekend.  The first occurred at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012.  Corey A. Davenport, age 23, of Auburn lost control of his 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser at the intersection of North College Street and Magnolia Avenue.  The vehicle struck two pedestrians, both Auburn University students, and two parked vehicles.  Hector F. Hernandez-Corzo, age 23, was transported to Columbus Regional Medical Center by helicopter and Kathleen L. Holt, age 28, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center by ambulance.  Both pedestrians were treated for non-life threatening injuries.  Davenport was uninjured. 

 

     The second accident occurred at approximately midnight on Saturday.  Benjamin H. Carr, age 21, lost control of his 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the intersection of South College Street and Shug Jordan Parkway.  The Jeep struck three other vehicles at the intersection before coming to rest upside down off the roadway.  Carr, an Auburn University student, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  No one else was seriously injured in the accident.  The cause of both accidents remains under investigation.
