Lee County Air Conditioner Arrests

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the theft and or damage of 26 air conditioner condenser units that have occurred in the Smith Station community.  The thefts of these units range from the dates beginning June 23, 2010 and continued until July 12, 2010.  The investigation into these crimes have revealed that all of the homes that were targeted by these thieves occurred at vacant residences. 

     The offender(s) in these cases are gutting the units and selling the copper, aluminum, and metal as strap that is removed from the air conditioning units.  The replacement cost of these units normally range from $3000 to $4000.  A combined total of these thefts or damages will cost the victims approximately $91,000.
